Department of Commerce Hosts Interactive Session on AI for Career Growth

Srinagar, August 19, 2026: The Department of Commerce, University of Kashmir, successfully organised a guest lecture on “Learn to Use AI as Your Coach to Build Skills for Career Growth” on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, with an overwhelming response from students across disciplines.The session brought together PG students from Management, Tourism and Travel Studies, Economics and Commerce, reflecting the growing cross-disciplinary interest in artificial intelligence and its implications for education, employability and the future of work.The lecture was delivered by Mr. Tahir Qazi, CEO of iQuasar, LLC, a US-based technology solutions and outsourcing company. An alumnus of NIT Srinagar, Virginia Tech and The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Qazi is an entrepreneur and technology executive with extensive experience in AI, technology-enabled services, business transformation and strategic management.The session moved beyond a conventional discussion of artificial intelligence and focused on its practical use as a personal coach for learning and career development. Students were encouraged to rethink how they can use AI to identify skill gaps, learn more effectively, improve productivity, practise professional skills and continuously prepare themselves for an evolving workplace. The emphasis on using AI actively and intelligently rather than merely knowing about AI emerged as one of the key takeaways of the session.The enthusiasm of the participants was particularly evident during the interactive question-and-answer session that followed the lecture. Students raised thoughtful and wide-ranging questions on the use of AI for learning, career preparation, skill development and future employment opportunities.
