The Department of Commerce, University of Kashmir, organized a dazzling farewell ceremony for the outgoing students of the M.Com Batch 2023 on October 28, 2025, at the Ibn Khaldun Auditorium of the Allama Iqbal Library. The event was attended by faculty members, M.Com (Previous) students, and the non-teaching staff of the department.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Shah, Head of the Department, shared his fond memories with the outgoing batch and reflected on his experiences with the students. In his address, he offered valuable life lessons and extended his best wishes to the students for their future endeavors.
Other senior faculty members, including Professor Mohi-ud-Din Sangmi, Professor Nazir Ahmad Nazir, Professor Riyaz Ahmad Ranaiye, Professor Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, and Professor Sabiya Mufti, also spoke on the occasion, recalling their cherished interactions and memorable moments with the students in the class. Dr. Sartaj Hussain, Er. Kaiser Rashid and Dr. Abid Jahangir, too, shared their reflections and experiences with the outgoing students, adding warmth and depth to the proceedings.
The students, in turn, reflected upon their academic journey with faculty members who had previously been part of the Department of Commerce, especially Professor S. M. Shafi, Dr. Adil Amin Bhat, and Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad Thakur, expressing deep gratitude for their guidance and mentorship. They also voiced their affection and longing for Professor Khursheed Ahmad Butt and Dr. Khalid Ashraf Chisti, who, owing to official engagements, were unable to attend the event.
The farewell featured an emotional video presentation prepared by the students, beautifully capturing their journey and memorable experiences in the department. Several students expressed their deep sense of gratitude towards their teachers, acknowledging their guidance, encouragement, and invaluable contributions to their academic and personal growth as invaluable mentors.
To add a touch of fun and interaction, several engaging games—such as Truth and Dare—were played between the faculty and students, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere. The students presented bouquets and personalized mementos to all faculty members as a token of appreciation, expressing their unfeigned thanks for the knowledge, warmth, and support they received throughout the program.
The students also extended their gratitude to the non-teaching staff, acknowledging their kindness and constant support throughout their stay in the department. One of the students presented a self-composed poem that beautifully portrayed the defining traits and personalities of each faculty member, evoking nostalgia and emotion among the audience.
The event concluded on a nostalgic note with a cake-cutting ceremony, marking the end of a memorable evening filled with emotions, laughter, and gratitude.
